NFL Power Ratings
Top 10 NFL teams after Week 3:
1. Indianapolis 3-0 (2)
2. New Orleans 3-0 (1)
3. New York Giants 3-0 (4)
4. Philadelphia 2-1 (5)
5. New York Jets 3-0 (10)
6. Pittsburgh 1-2 (3)
7. Minnesota 3-0 (—)
8. Baltimore 3-0 (—)
9. New England 2-1 (7)
10. San Diego 2-1 (6)
Week 3 exposed some flaws in several of the top teams. New Orleans' vaunted offense struggled against the lowly Buffalo Bills, who I am still projecting at 2-14 for the year. Indianapolis seems to be running on all cylinders, with the best QB in the game powering late-game heroics and a surprisingly staunch defense. The Giants lack star quality skill players, but they will beat you with workmanlike precision, which is a great match for Coach Coughlin. The Eagles have lots of skill and will be even better with McNab and Westbrook healthy. The Jets are improved on both sides of the ball, and I watched this week waiting for rookie QB Sanchez to crack against the Titans. He really didn't. Pittsburgh is still the brawny baller of the AFC despite dropping two games it should have won. Look for true tests of the Steelers' mettle next week against SD and later against the Vikes, sandwiched around softies Cleveland and Detroit. Minnesota has played well enough to win, but needs to convince against upper-echelon competition. I don't think the Vikes will mesh their talent to be among the elite this year, but the team has spark. I'm not a believer in Baltimore but Flacco is the real deal. New England is not as good as most people think, having lonst too many veteran pieces from their heart. I think the Pats balance is very fragile this season. San Diego rounds out my top 10, and without a healthy RB Tomlinson, you can pull the plug on the Chargers.
Biggest disappointments so far: Cleveland, Washington and Tennessee.
